Care Co-ops are running an introductory, one day course, for those who are thinking about working or volunteering with young people aged 13 – 19. Designed to give learners an idea of the key features of youth work including, youth participation work, understanding the role of a youth worker, exploring the needs of teenagers, types of youth work, anti-discriminatory practice and safeguarding. This very practical and activity packed course will encourage learners to reflect on their own experiences, consider their motivation, develop skills to deliver effective youth-work.
Delivered by a highly experienced youth worker the course will be a practical and fun introduction to working with young people.
Who can apply? You must be aged over 19 and meet one or more of these criteria to access the course for free:
- Living in a deprived community within the city of Brighton and Hove
- Claiming related benefit(s) (JSA,ESA, Income Support, Carers Allowance etc)
- Low or no qualifications, especially in terms of literacy and numeracy
- Not engaged with education for at least 1 year
