The Get Set For Work Programme aims to give learners over the age of 19 the valuable skills they need to progress into work or a Traineeship, through enhancing their confidence, personal skills and team working abilities.

While our Go! Kick Start Your Career programme offering an opportunity for 19 – 24 year olds to develop their skills and confidence through practical training and experience in a real work environment through work placements with local employers.

Both courses are fully funded and your benefits wont be affected.

Get Set For Work

The Get Set For Work Programme is a three week course that gives you the opportunity to build confidence, key skills and attitudes that are valued by employers. During the course you will:

Work as part of a team
Learn effective communication skills
Take part in a project set by a local employer to apply your skills
Gain a Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills
Develop a career progression plan
Be mentored and supported by The Platform staff throughout the programme

Go! Kick Start Your Career

The Go! programme offers 5 weeks of real work experience in a supportive company. If you don’t already have a level 2 in English and maths, we will also provide you with the training and support you need to gain qualifications in these areas which are valuable to employers. At the end of the work placement we will support you in your progression into work, further learning and volunteering.

Work placement matched to your career aspirations
Skills and experience to progress to an Apprenticeship or sustainable work
Training in Functional English and Maths (if you don’t already have a level 2 qualification in these areas)
Continued job preparation support and training

Brighton Toy and Model Museum - Reception and Sales Trainee

Housed in the historic arches of Brighton Railway Station, the museum comprises of historic old toy displays, exhibitions and workshops. Develop your customer service skills, gain valuable customer service and sales experience in a positive and unique environment.

The Dog's Trust - Retail Trainee

Develop your retail experience in an organisation with an important mission. The Dog’s Trust is working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life. The trainee will be based at the Dog’s Trust retail shop in Brighton, and will undertake a lively and varied role including customer service, designing retail displays and helping prepare and organise stock.

The Brighthelm Cafe - Hospitality Trainee

Develop your customer service skills as a hospitality trainee at Brighthelm- a busy community centre in the heart of Brighton. You will be working alongside the Centre Manager and Head of Housekeeping to assist in the running of a busy conference and community centre, helping with front line customer service and keeping the centre presentable. Help towards placement expenses is available: up to £5 travel per shift and £5 + 20% off in the café.
