The Big Fig at The Platform are running a 6 week Catering training course for unemployed people from 24th October. While on the course you will learn food safety, cooking, knife skills, healthy eating, food preparation and general kitchen skills in a working kitchen environment and the opportunity to plan, prepare and deliver a Big Fig ‘pop up’ night in a venue in Brighton to paying customers! You will:
-Learn professional catering skills
-Gain catering and employability qualifications,
-Carry out a 2 week work training placement in France and
-Do a pop up catering evening in a local restaurant.
The course and work placement are fully funded if you meet the referral criteria and includes the qualification, travel, accommodation in shared rooms and food in France.
Applicants must be 19 or over, on employment benefits and have a current valid passport (and visa for travelling to France if needed). You need to be keen, fully committed and ready to engage in work and learning activities, have a strong interest in getting into the catering sector and be available to take part in a 2 week residential stay in France.
